General Contractors

Here at Eidyia Insurance Services we do our best to find competitive quotes that pay great
commissions, and our General Contractors Liability is no exception.

Contractor general liability insurance goes by many different names, but serves the one
purpose of providing coverage that fits a specific need. Here are some common types of
coverage:

General Contractor Insurance: General contractors take the lead on construction
projects, making them the prime target should something go wrong. Holding a general
contractor liability insurance policy is a critical part of being a responsible party, and is
mandatory if they wish to be awarded construction contracts.

Subcontractor Insurance: Subcontractor liability insurance is no different than general
contractors liability insurance, in that it provides coverage for construction professionals.
Subcontractors cannot rely on piggybacking on the general contractor's policy, so they
need to have, and are often times contractually required to carry, their own policy.

Electrical Contractor Insurance: Electricians are responsible for properly wiring
residential and commercial buildings, where the margin of error is slim and the liability
potential great. Carrying the right coverage is vital, and a requirement in order to be able
to work in this industry.

Handyman Insurance: Handymen might not be licensed contractors, but are still
responsible for doing all sorts of smaller, residential construction projects. This means
their liability exposure can be great, necessitating a handyman insurance policy that
provides the liability and property protection they desperately need.

Optional Coverage's:

Surety Bonds - As a contractor, you are often times required to have a surety bond to
ensure you perform, per the contractual requirements. If you fail to perform, then the
surety bond provider will make a payout to your client, covering their financial losses up
to the bond limit.

Lead Abatement

Lead exposure to workers and habitants from houses painted with lead based paint
represent a significant public health hazard in the U.S. Although lead based paint was
prohibited in the United States in 1978, a large portion of the national housing was
constructed prior to 1978. Health concerns from lead exposure, especially to children,
have prompted Federal and State governments to enact several regulations and
initiatives designed to reduce, remove and prevent lead exposure.

All work in pre-1978 habitational structures requires strict adherence to lead safe work
practices, occupant notification, record keeping and sometimes pre/post dust testing
as outlined by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPS) and Housing and
Urban Development Agency (HUD), Title X of the Housing and Community Development
Act, and related Federal and State regulations. Lead exposure can be claimed in a
lawsuit, and therefore, all work conducted in pre-1978 structures should be insured.

R.R.P. Program:

Did you know common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition can
create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which can be
harmful to adults and children. To protect against this risk, on April 22, 2008, the EPA
issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices and other actions aimed at
preventing lead poisoning.

Under the rule, beginning April 22, 2010 the EPA recommends contractors performing
renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978
homes, child care facilities and schools must be certified and follow lead-safe work
practices. To become certified, renovation contractors must submit an application
and fee payment to the EPA.

Product Features:

• ISO Based Occurrence Commercial General Liability Coverage Form
• Contractual Liability coverage
• Temporary storage of lead materials on-site or at owned locations
• Coverage for incidental transportation of remediated lead
• Blanket or project-specific coverage
• Policy can be expanded to include incidental operations such as carpentry, insulation
and painting
• Asbestos Abatement Liability can be included
• Optional coverage for Mold Remediation

Premium and Limits:

Minimum Premium at $1,500 for R.R.P. Program and $2500 for Lead Abatement
Deductible plans starting at $2,500

Limits up to $11 million on a blanket basis, or for individual projects additional capacity
available.

Submission Requirements:

• Environmental Services Application
• Resumes from all key personnel
• Copies of Lead/Asbestos Licenses or RRP EPA certificates from all key Personnel
